I'm the mother of three beautiful 2-legged girls and currently have five furbabies of my own (3 Treeing Walker Coonhounds and 2 cats - all rescues). We have a third cat, which actually belongs to the daughter who lives at home. I've lost too many furbabies in my life but have given even and every one of them plenty of love and care.
About my pup(s)!
I have three rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds (well, one is a mix). They all came from high-kill shelters in NC and SC. Kenji was one of 30 dogs (hounds) who were tied along the property line of a man involved in cock fighting (they were his "alarm" system). Kyoko was dumped by a hunter - at only half of what she should have weighed and with a big gash on her nose. A rescue was supposed to pull her, but bailed on her so I adopted her myself. She is now a healthy weight, and in fact had gained too much weight so I had to get her to lose some weight. Seiji would have been dead the morning I had him pulled for me. I sent the adoption fee for him the night before and several emails - to be sure they wouldn't be overlooked. I started calling the shelter even before they were scheduled to be open the next morning and made sure they knew he had an adopter. Quite a few other dogs were killed there that morning.
